Happy snow days to us and practically everyone in the whole state. It's been nice to be home, especially since I had some "bug " for most of Tuesday and part of today. I'll spare all details, but I've been weak and worth nothing. Last night Adam and Bucky went to Terry Grider's to watch the game which was nice. Since I wasn't better when they got home, I went to bed and Bucky did bath and bed duties. What a good guy! This afternoon I've felt better and we even went to Guthrie's--using a gift card of course. Usually I go hog wild at Guthrie's but I had a baked potato and some grilled shrimp. The potato tasted wonderful and so far it's agreed with me.

Adam has been doing great with pottying on the potty. Tonight when we went out to eat, he wore "big boy" underwear and even used the bathroom when we were there. We usually do a pull-up in a case like this so we were thrilled.

Fun News

Today Leslie Gossage gave Adam a card that said WILL YOU BE.. on the front and MY RING BEARER?on the back! Woo Hoo! This is so exciting for us. Leslie and Josh are to be married August 15. She says he'll probably be wearing tan. I can see the pictures now! I reminded Les that Adam does have a shy side, but I told her we'd do plenty of "prepping" and she said he'll be closer to 4 by then and do great. I'm so proud! Emily Hart is the flower girl and Alicia is going to walk Kate and Carly down the aisle. This is going to be a beautiful and wonderful wedding and knowing Adam will be a part makes it even that much more special. Again, woo hoo!

It's been a good week. It's gone by fast. Wednesday was back to school and church. Thursday I had a MUCH longer than expected meeting after school and then all three of us went to Somerset. Bucky had to get some things for Upward, see a church member, and then we went to King Buffet to satisfy the latest of my pregnancy cravings. I told Buck about 11 pm on Monday that I wanted to go to King Buffet. He laughed. I tried to calm the craving with a frozen meal the next day and then rice with soy sauce the next day but that just didn't cut it. Let me just say that I throughly enjoyed our trip and I got my fill of sesame chicken, General Tso's chicken, rice, and crab rangoons....among other things of course. Adam ate well too.
Tonight's key word is RELAX. We ate a nice supper and then we've played and done laundry and stuff like that. Adam pottied at daycare and we'd promised a toy from the Mighty Dollar if he did. He told me he got to go to Mighty General, combining Mighty Dollar and Dollar General. It's almost too cute to correct!
Upward starts tomorrow. It's a long day for Bucky but for a good cause. I'm doing two of the devotions (it's been near impossible to fill slots) and also going to put together a welcome basket.
Have a super weekend, everybody!

Home Again, Home Again

No school again today in Russell County although I'm not really sure why. Maybe snow, cold weather, or a boil water advisory. Maybe I'll solve this mystery later in the day.

We had our doctor's visit yesterday. It was one of those quick visits, but we had to wait for quite a while in the waiting room. We got to listen to the heart rate. It was 153. Most websites say this means it's a girl but who knows if that's true or not. We found out for sure that Dr. Crosslin will be out of town for his 20th anniversary on our due date. This upset me at first but then I realized that it's no big deal in the whole big picture. Yes, Dr. Crosslin was great with Adam, but I know someone else can do a good job too. He wants me to see Dr. Bruner a few times since he will probably deliver.

Don't know what we'll get into today. Bucky is headed to Knoxville to eat wings with the guys at church tonight. They are taking the new bus. All I know is that I will not be worth a dime when I actually have to DO something during the day.

Sunday, Sunday

Nothing much going on here. Bucky is playing ball at JCC and Adam is eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I've cleaned the bathroom and spare bedroom and am ready to do some laundry.

We had a nice Sunday at church. A family new to Jamestown this year joined the church. Lucas, Nick, Ben, and Travis (Bucky's small group) came over to the house after church for lunch. They normally stay for awhile but they all had RCMS basketball practice so they had to leave early...in the middle of a basketball game of which Adam was a part. When they left, Adam cried and cried. He usually handles transitions well, but he'd had a long day at church since we were on praise team and he was left crushed and heartbroken. It toko a while for him to get settled. When we asked him what he wanted he said, "'I want Nick." These boys are like celebrities to him.

No school tomorrow and we have a doctor's appointment in the afternoon.
Have a great week!

We were out of school yesterday thanks to dangerously cold temperatures. We enjoyed the day. We were in our pajamas most of the day. Adam and I didn't even turn on the TV. We just played and played and played. From stickers to trains to computer games we were busy. Last night we went to the Gossages for the annual soup and game night. Adam and Avery (born on the same day) got to play together. Kate and Carly, the twins, were there and they are cute as can be. The food and laughter were great. It was 11 or so when we got home and Adam was still going strong. He wanted to play when we got home. No sir! He went to bed but was up several times. He would go right back to sleep but finally woke up at 7--a little too early considering I read before going to bed about midnight. I will certainly take a nap today. We don't have anything on the agenda today other than a few chores around the house.

Nice Weekend

It's been a nice weekend. We stayed home on Friday night. It was wonderful to just "be." On Saturday we went to Bowling Green. I needed to pick up a few things at the Parent Teacher store and then we used some gift cards at Kohl's, NY and C, Old Navy, Barnes and Noble, and Best Buy. We ate supper at Red Lobster and used yet another gift card. The food was delicious. I had (of course) the salmon and it was so good I moaned on the first bite. I couldn't help it! Adam got broiled fish and rice off the kids' menu. When it came he said, "My favorite!" He ate liked he hadn't eaten in days. He ate pretty much all of his food, a Cheddar Bay biscuit, and most of the croutons off our salads. Needless to say, we all left full and happy. Today was church. We had a meeting after so Megan brought Adam home. I was home about 1:3o and Bucky was home for minute before his small group and Quench practice. Adam is still down for his nap. I've been trying to wake him up for awhile. I've made potato soup for tonight and also for lunches tomorrow.

We've told Adam about the baby. He had questions of course, but he seemed to understand as well as any three year old would. He says he wants a sister and in fact he told Ms. Roxann at daycare that he was having a baby sister. We want a healthy and happy baby. The funniest thing was when he asked Bucky if he had a baby in his belly, too! Bucky told him, "No, that's just food." At prayer time the night we told him he said, "Momma, pray for my baby."

Also, Adam has been full of gas lately. I'm beginning to think he swallowed a skunk. I mean, it's gross. The other night when I finally asked what he had eaten at daycare that day he said (with VERY expressive hands out to the side and eyebrows up), "We had chicken nuggets, and chicken nuggets make me toot!" I cackled.

School has been good so far. I don't know if this "pregnant glow" has anything to do with a better outlook but if it is I'm glad.

Bucky is home from church and it's almost bath time.

I'm writing in blue even though Kentucky lost yesterday. I really thought they were going to pull out a win. Maybe next time.

Today was a day at school with no kids, just professional development which was very low key. I got a few things done and enjoyed visiting with everyone and telling news about the baby. Tomorrow the kids are back and I hope I'm ready for them.

Bucky and I are really cutting back financially in 2009. One major sign of this is the sack lunches that Bucky is taking to lunch. I always take my lunch, but he mostly goes out to eat at noon so this is a big change for him. I think it will help though. Tonight we are having vegetable soup (perfect on a rainy night) and this will be good to have for lunch over the next few days.

Adam is doing well. He is currently building this very involved track for Thomas. It involves an overpass and he really has done a good job. That engineering thing must be a Walters trait. We did some mazes tonight in a book I'd gotten him for preschoolers. The kid loves mazes!

Saturday, January 3, 2009

Adam has enjoyed being back home. I think he's played with everything he's ever owned. Ken and Erica got him a sled and he and Bucky even played with that last night. He has made numerous laps around the garage riding his new bike.

He's been doing GREAT with his pottying. Woo Hoo! Happy '09 to us!

Bucky's gone to eat lunch with some friends. Adam and I are hanging out. He's watching part of a DVD he got for Christmas. I'm hoping he takes a good nap today. He needs a manicure and pedicure and the only humane way to do this is when he's sleeping.

We may go to the Laker game tonight if all goes well this afternoon.

Just the Two of Us

Adam has been in Cynthiana since Saturday. He's enjoying his visiting and has been pottying in the potty which thrills us to no end. It's been a long road, but perhaps KK has helped us in this struggle.

Bucky and I have also worked around the house. Yesterday I took down our Christmas stuff and put up the snowmen for winter. I left up the tree but may take it down today. Putting away Christmas stuff and clothes is a must and I always try to clean when I do that so I mopped and swept and dusted and, well, you name it I did it. We watched Get Smart last night. I thought it was great.

Tonight is the New Year's Bash at church from 9-1. I will be worth nothing come Jan. 5. We have stayed up late and slept later than we normally do over the break. Reality will come soon.
