Big Appetite

Adam must be going through a growth spurt or not eating at daycare. This is what he ate (devoured) last night.
3:30 Two Rice Krispie treats
3:45 Half a bowl of Cheez-Its (I never buy these first two things--they were random purchases the other night which is maybe why he loved them)
4:30 2 scrambled eggs and one piece of toast with jelly
6:00 Four chicken nuggets and mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts (yes, we eat these)
6:30 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
Juice throughout the night
The kid is a human garbage disposal. And he LOVES to eat. He savors his bite and will say, "This is good, Mama!"

Tonight is an easy night. Bucky is umpiring two games. Adam and I are hanging out here with no real agenda.

Adam got his hair cut this afternoon. It looks sharp. While there, I heard yet again that we might be getting out earlier than June 4. May 30 is the date and the source (who shall remain nameless) is a good one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Bucky came home early to mow the yard. He is now mowing in the rain and it is very cold. He says his finger tips are numb. I've got supper ready so he can enjoy a hot meal when he comes in . Mary Blakey came by today. She brought Adam some books--one is a lift the flap one that he really likes. He rode on the mower with Bucky some after she left. It was too cold to let him stay very long. KK sent a package today with some clothes--shorts and then one Thomas shirt and another Lightning McQueen shirt. He wanted to put them both and wanted the tags out of both. Needless to say, he loved them. He is playing trains as I type. I think the boy will turn into a train.
Better go. Bucky's putting things away.

It was an early and busy morning for us. All three of us were at church at 7 for the day's activities. I'd say Adam had put in two miles of walking/running while we were practicing songs before the service. He ran everywhere! He then had class, sunday school, and class again. The two of us went to Giovanni's (Adam called it Bonnie's) after church with the worship team members and Ajeen, a girl that might intern with the worship ministry. Bucky is busy with all his things.
Adam fell asleep on the way home and slept until four. We didn't make it to the baby shower. We will probably go to the grocery in a little bit. We don't have much here to eat and he says he wants pecan spins. Perhaps we'll get some soup since it's going to be so cool the next days.
I'm looking forward to Wednesday. We'll get to see Ben. I'll have that boy an apple pie ready for sure. His finals are this week.

Sunday, April 27, 2008

I love Saturdays. I didn't do much this morning but odds and ends. I can always stay busy, especially when Adam is wanting to play trains EVERY WAKING MOMENT.

We went to Leslie's birthday party tonight. We ate fish and all the fixings. Yum! For dessert they had Nora's cakes. Delicious! Adam had fun playing with all the kids and just running everywhere trying to keep up with their dog Baxter. He told me he had to go the bathroom while we there and actually tried, but he never went even after waiting there awhile. I can almost hardly keep a straight face the way he holds up that shirt and looks down to see if he's doing anything. He will sit down at home, but tonight he tried to do just like Daddy.

Tomorrow is a very busy day for both me and Bucky. Some of the highlights are praise team, Bucky's running sound, teaching Sunday School, Elder's meeting, lunch with the worship team, baby shower at 2 for Alicia, paintball, and putting out new flamingos. Whew! I'm thinking there will be no napping tomorrow.

By the way, Alicia and Cameron are naming the twins Katherine June (Kate) and Carly Ruth. All but Carly are familiy names. They'll be so cute. She had 4D ultrasound pictures and it's amazing what you can see.

Sports Center edition of Thursday and Friday (just the highlights....)

Adam went with LeeAnn and Deana while Bucky and I had praise team practice. They went to the playground and McDonalds. Adam pooped while they were at McD's. Always an adventure.

Survivor was another good episode--the second week in a row someone totally was shocked that they were voted off and both Ozzie and Jason (the ones voted off) had the immunity idol and didn't play it. Hello!

Bucky umpired two RCMS ballgames tonight. Adam went to the city park to see some little league action and then to the game to see Bucky. Adam liked the games, but was disappointed there was no popcorn at the games.

Testing is over for the week. As a whole, I am disappointed, but what can you do?

Adam got his tricycle license today at daycare. They've been doing a trike-a-thon. He is proud of it. It has his picture and everything.

The weather here has been beautiful. It's supposed to rain tomorrow I think.

Leslie's birthday party is tomorrow night. Avery, my principals' granddaughter who was born the same day as Adam, will be there and it's always fun to see them side by side. Avery is very petite. Adam is 37 inches tall.....

Tuesday was a nice day. I got my hair cut and then when Adam and I got home I started getting things ready to switch out winter clothes for spring and summer clothes. I ate a sandwich for supper. Adam wanted a sandwich as well so I made him a peanut butter and jelly. Oh, how that kid loves jelly. He asked for and ate another one. When Bucky came home around 7, he said he wanted chicken nuggets, he proceded to eat four and down some yogurt. He's a growing boy. We had played outside--t ball, golf, big wheel, and bubbles--so I guess he was famished.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Warm weather! The three of us went to the country club this afternoon. Bucky and Adam played golf and I sinply enjoyed the ride and the breeze. Nana had sent new golf clubs for Adam. He put them to the test. On what I think was his second hit with his driver, the club broke. Then the putter came in two. All injuries were repairable, but it will be soon that he needs "real" clubs. The only trouble is that the next step up are quite a bit heavier than the plastic ones, and also it may be hard to find left handed clubs, which apparently is something Adam is going to need. Regardless, we had a ball. We played nine holes. I grilled chicken (yum!) and made some pasta and some vegetables. Adam ate so much broccoli and caulifower!

Testing went well. The kids did well from what I can tell. We do another section tomorrow. My left arm is a little pink from being outside today.

We're just hanging out here tonight. Bucky has started watching a show called Ninja Warrior. It's this Japanese challenge-type show that has subtitles. It's a bit laborious to have to read everything, but Adam loves it. It's sort of like American Gladiators.

Monday, April 21, 2008

Adam has returned to Jamestown. He and Karen got here a little after 6 last night. He had a great time. He came home with a new Thomas the Tank today. It's a big track with a battery powered Thomas and a remote controlled James. He can work it well. There's no telling how many times he had those trains going around the track last night. Karen stayed the night with us and will go to Cynthiana today.

I'm writing this right before I leave for school. It's the first day of CATS testing. I hope all goes well. I am exhausted, though. Bucky and I were out late on Saturday, up early on Sunday, and then I didn't take a very good nap yesterday afternoon. I'm sure I'll be fine once I get to school.

Sunday, April 20, 2008

Adam is in Cynthiana. We met KK in Danville last nigt to deliver "the goods." We ate at a yummy Mexican restaurant and then loaded things up in Karen's car. Adam was so excited. We had to get him out of the car to give us hugs and kisses good-bye. He was rearing to go, and looking too cute in his new hat that Karen had brought from her trip to Chicago. Bucky and I messed around Danville for a while and then headed home. We went out with some kids and parents at 11 to put out more flamingos for the Flamingo Wars with church. It was very fun and kind of sneaky. Picture Bucky dressed in all black putting out pink birds. Funny!

Buck's in a golf scramble today. I'm going to work on my Sunday School lesson and also continue fine-tuning my talk for Salem's luncheon. It will be May before you know it. It certainly is quiet here...... Callie is enjoying having us to herself.

Friday, April 18, 2008

3D was last night. Adam couldn't wait for the kids to get here. He played well and ate well. He was in command of the table. Allison and Megan kept the food coming and Heath entertained him. After supper, he got to play outside with Nick and Travis. They let him punt. He had a ball.

Bucky mowed our dandelion field (yard) yesterday. It looks really nice. When we got home Adam and I played with his new t-ball game. He can hit the ball, and he hits it best left handed. That's the way he golfs, too. He's right handed on most other things.

I'm off to school. Adam goes to Cynthiana for the weekend. He is ready to ride the four wheeler and see cows and neigh neighs.

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Would you believe me if I said Bucky was putting flamingos in people's yards? It's for a fund raiser for this summer's mission trip. They've already made about $600 in both "insurance" policies and "hits." It should be fun to see the pink birds around town.

Tonight they taped some of the kids to use for a video for the Mother's Day luncheon. When they put Adam in the chair and put on the camera he proceded to put his whole hand in his mouth. He let out one little laugh and didn't answer any of the questions they asked. How can he be so wild one minute and so shy the next. Actually, I think his stomach must have been upset. Erica said he had a "good poop" while they were out on the playground. According to her it would have clogged a toilet. Ah, Daddy will be proud.

Nothing much new. I am SICK of reviewing for testing. Let's just do the dang thing. Also, there's a rumor going around that we've appealed to the state again for days and that there is a SLIM chance we could get out in May. Please let this be true!

I am trying to do Weight Watchers again and unfortunately, I am not doing very well. I don't know what the deal is. Maybe stress or something.

I am anxious to see who is off of Idol. I'm hoping it's Jason Castro. I am over the dreadlocks for sure.

Off to put on Adam's pj's. Toodleo-loo, kangaroo-----

Today I kept my friend Amy's daugher Kendall. She is five months old today and we had a great time. It was just me and Kendall for the first hour, and then Bucky brought Adam home before going back to church. Adam loved playing with her. He wanted to hold her over and over. Amy picked her up about 6:30. Bucky will be home later after his meeting. Adam is playing and I'm getting ready to grab a bite to eat. Not much news here on the home front.

Officially Worn Out

Today has officially kicked my butt. The first day back from break and breakfast duty on top of that. That means I have to be in the gym at 6:40. Needless to say, I will sleep well tonight. I had errands to run after school. I went to Kroger and bought stuff for us and also for 3D on Thursday. 3D stands for Dinner, Devotion, and Discipleship. We have it once a month for the middle and high school kids. We're having lasagna, some garlic bread, and a yummy Oreo dessert. I bought us some tilapia. It was at a great price, and while we don't normally eat (read, me cook) fish, I think it may be okay.

Adam is tired, too. May be a long night. He has come home today telling me he watched SpongeBob. I am SO NOT A FAN. I don't know if I'll say something to Ms. Donna, but for Pete's sake, there must be SOMETHING better for a little guy to watch. Heck, I'll buy some DVD's if they want me to. I hate to be a party pooper, but come on. Can I get an Amen?

Bucky is busy as a bee this week. Tomorrow is Growing Older God's Way, a senior's conference that he's in charge of. I hope all goes well. The decorations in the gym looked great when I stopped by this afternoon.

Better go check my fish and start the broccoli.

Sherry, are you back yet?

Monday, April 14, 2008

Brrr! It is so cold here! On our way home from church there was definitely "something" mixed in with the rain. I'm ready for warmer weather.

Today's service at church was nice. There was an all male praise team which is something different for us. Aren't men easier to sing with? At least the men who sang today. Sunday School went well, too. I'm teaching theVisionaries this month and it's been lots of fun. We have a great class full of people who will share and speak up. It makes my job that much easier and fulfulling.

Adam finally had a (very) dirty diaper. I had warned his Sunday School teacher that it had been awhile and I'd packed extra clothes. Lucky for them, he went right after we got home from church. The best part is that he wanted his daddy to change it. As Daniel Cline used to say, "You better get some boom boom paper 'cause somebody dropped the bomb." Ah, Daniel Cline. Whatever happpened to him?

I am now reading Janette's blog. Corban is so big and too cute! It will be good to keep up with her. I wonder if I can get some sort of commission for everyone in my "circle" who starts a blog. Such a trendsetter, huh?

Tomorrow is back to the routine. We've all had naps today. Hopefuly Adam will go down at a reaasonable hour so we can, too.

Will Tiger win the Masters? It looks like it may not be another green jacket for him.

Time to go play with Adam and then time for some supper. Being lazy on a Saturday makes me hungry.

One more thing. We TOTALLY did not watch what we ate on our trip. It's back to counting points tomorrow. Pool season is coming.

We're Back!

I tol Bucky that most of you would be having withdrawal symptoms while we traveled during Spring Break. Well, we are back! We had an absolute ball! Adam and I are at Union Chapel today. I came for awhile to get ready for this coming week. I have breakfast duty and so there's no time in the morning to get things prepared. This is the last week before testing so it's review, review, and more review. I'm blogging from school because our computer at home needs some sort of update from Duo-County that we've not done yet. As I'm typing, Adam is trying to make a dirty diaper. He's not been since Monday night and he's having some trouble.

Anyway, here are some highlights from our trip to Gatlinburg.

The condo is very nice. They had done some updating since our last visit. There were stainless steel appliances, a huge flat screen, and some new furniture. The view was still fantastic. You can see all of the town, and it's neat at night.

Adam played putt putt on our trip. We like the Davy Crockett golf in G-burg. He got a hole in one on number 7. Really! With no help from me! He really impressed me.

We went to the Dixie Stampede and Adam was in awe of all the neigh neighs. He barely ate a bite because he was so into it. I asked him one time if he wanted a bite and he said, "I want to clap."

The kids did great with Adam and Adam with them. They helped out a lot with him and Adam was so funny singing and dancing to "Low." It's his favorite and he can really bust a move.

The guys (three seniors) made a video on the trip of some random things and then some planned things. They took a dollar bill and some fishing line into Gatlinburg and tried to trick people into bending down to get the money before they would pull it away. They did many Chinese Fire Drills. Perhaps the funniest bit was their short film about Captain Hero and Buster trying to capture The Galded/Gaulded? Ninja who was looking for GoldBond Powder. They made costumes and everything. Where do they come up with these things?

I'll share more stories later and some pictures, too. We're about ready to head to town to eat lunch with Bucky.

Monday, April 7, 2008

Finally a nice day. We went into the Cafe' at lunch and it was dreary and cool. When we came out, it was like a different day! Bucky played golf today. I gathered items and packed things for our trip. I think Adam and I are ready. We'll leave tomorrow. It's a smaller group than in years' past, and I think it will be a fun time.

Adam and I played outside tonight. He loves walking through the fields. We walked a ton! He drank a whole glass of water when we came back inside.

L-A-Z-Y

It's official. We were lazy today. Adam and I are still in our pajamas and it's almost 9:00. We've done some odds and ends around here, but there's nothing really to report.

I was glad to see Memphis win.

Susan sent us prom pictures of Megan. She is gorgeous! It won't be long before Bucky and I head to Russell County's prom as chaperones.

Late Night

Yet another late night at our house last night. We got home from Somerset early. However, about 9:3o or so I decided I was going to clean the laundry room. (It should be noted I was going to do this to burn some calories). Once I began, I find some water. I didn't know where it was coming from. To make a long story short, I'm almost sure the water came from where I'd washed the comforter and when I put it from the washer to dryer, it lost some water. We couldn't find anything wrong with the washer, dryer, or hot water heater. Needless to say, moving all those things and then cleaning up ALL, ALL, ALL the dirt and dust that gathers in areas like a laundry room took a while. I threw anything away that wasn't bolted down it seemed and also started a pile of yard sale stuff. Bucky seems to think we have lots of junk to sell. We'll see. A yard sale seems like so much work. Anyway, it was after midnight before we all got settled down and my chipperness had worn off. Kim is the night owl, not me. Adam is still asleep and it's 9:30. Buck's on the golf course and I've been up since before 8 doing laundry and making meal plans for our spring break trip. I think I've got everything typed up for our big Wal Mart trip in Pigeon Forge. That's an experience.
Nothing really on the agenda for the day. Resting my weary bones sounds nice.

Champs! JCC's church team won the championship in overtime on Thursday night. It was too cool! Bucky did awesome--22 points, 15 of those points coming from three points. Woo Hoo! We didn't get home until late and it was 11 before we went to bed. I could feel it today.

I'm officially on Spring Break. We buzzed over to Somerset today to eat and grab a few things at Wal Mart. We saw my cousin Cathy and her daughter Nicole there. Adam fell asleep on the way home. It's been forever since he's done that on a short trip. He has felt better since his day at the doctor on Wednesday. Must have been a big day at day care. He woke up when we got home and wanted to watch Cars. Bucky and I watched CSI and I did laundry.

We don't have anything on for tomorrow. I'm hoping to relax.

Sick Boy

Adam has brochitis. He got two shots--the same medicince just too big a dose for one shot apparently. He has some liquid medicine, too. He watched some TV when we got home from the doctor. He is down for a (cough filled) nap right now. I don't know how long that will last.

The creative juices have been flowing today. I've been working on the April 27 service for JCC and also thinking about Salem's luncheon for May. I had been toying around with several things, but after last night's talk by Gina I think I may do something about a woman's worth in this world. Call it A Woman's Worth or maybe call it More Precious Than Silver--catchy titles? Let me know if you have thoughts.

I am ready for a nap myself. More later.
Our Ladies Guild meeting was great last night. Gina Thornton was there and talked to us about our inner beauty and how much in love God is with us. She related much of what she said to the movie Pretty Woman. She did a wonderful job! We had a baked potato bar as our food. I had saved up plenty of points so my potato didn't have to be naked. Then, we got to do a sea salt scrub treatment on our hands, compliments of Gina. Our hands were so soft!

The night kept getting better when the JCC won their game in overtime. That means they are in the finals on Thursday night. The game was very intense. I was a nervous wreck!

It's Wednesday morning. I am at home. I'm not sick. However, Adam has a fever and some/lots of chest congestion. I knew he was flirting with sickness, but I was hoping it wouldn't come. He did not sleep well last night. We were up from 3:30 to probably around 5. He and Bucky are resting now. I am going to call at 8:30 to get him an appointment. I hope we can get in and not have to wait forever. More on that later.

The Bangles called it "Manic Monday"

It's been a long day. It started out rainy here, but it was sunny this afternoon. I had after school today--my last day! We have this week, Spring Break, and then a week to review before CATS testing. Guess what's on everyone's brain?
Bucky came home for supper, but then was back to JCC for basketball games. There was one at 7, 8, and 9. Remember that old joke about why seven is a scary number? Because seven "ate" nine! Good stuff! Anyway, JCC played and they won. Bucky played some which was the first time since his ankle injury.
Adam and I went to the grocery tonight. We stopped into KMart for a few things, too.
Still doing Weight Watchers. Bucky lost 9 pounds this first week. Men! I really didn't have access to a scale until Sunday so I'm not sure how I've done. I've done REALLY well sticking to the points and things except for an unfortunate session of nibbling with some Kix cereal tonight. Stupid carbohydrates! I did some extra dancing to make up for it. Here's something that Mary J. Blige (you know me and my celebrity friends-Ha!) says that really makes sense--What you eat in private, shows in public. 'Nuff said!
