Imagination

Adam is so funny and creative. Case in point: It seems his Bengals golf club is both a kite and a teacher "pointer." Last night he was holding up the club and told me he was flying his kite. He made it go really high and said the wind was blowing. Then, today he was in the spare bedroom and he was singing his ABC's (yes, all 26 letters and very clear) and he was tapping the wall and the door. He said, "I'm a teacher." I know that Ms. Sharon used to point to the letters in her room and he's modeling that. Isn't that funny! He and I have had a big day. Puzzles, tents, button sorting and a walk up a lane to name a few things. It's time to think about a nap. I've been cross-stitching while Adam sleeps. It'd been a long time since I'd done any of that.

Records day went well.
Mopped floors when I came home.
Adam and I planted a few flowers this afternoon.
Played the back nine tonight. Adam can really drive the ball.
Adam pottied twice today! Progress!
Haircuts tomorrow and first night of Amazing Race with the youth group.
Adam is probably a prune by now. More later.

Memorial Day

Ben, Joanna, and Pam Isaacs came to visit today. It was funny because we all sat on the floor and watched Adam play while we talked. Adam got out a good portion of his toys to show them. They stayed for about an hour. Since then we've read, played in his room, played on the computer, and had a snack. Bucky has called and said they are on their way home from Bardstown. They played 18 holes but it is looking like rain so they grabbed a bite and should be home in a couple of hours. I ordered a few things for Adam from The Children's Place online. I love their clothes and they were having good deals. Most of what I bought him was $5 or $7.50. I did splurge for the cutest pair of plaid shorts. He has one pair (that he's wearing today) and I love them. Bucky got some new plaid ones this weekend which is where the inspiration came from.

Better go. Think it may be time to read some more books and see if Adam will take a nap. Later!

Sunday, May 25, 2008

We went to Lexington yesterday. We were very successful in our shopping, plus we met up with Mom and Dad for a while at Hamburg! It was a good day for me and Bucky says it was his way of "paying his dues," since he golfed yesterday, is golfing today, and is taking a road trip tomorrow to golf. Notice a theme here?

Adam fell asleep on the way home from church. When he wakes up, I want to go outside and play. It's a BEAUTIFUL DAY here and I want to soak it up. He and I have NOTHING on the agenda for tomorrow and I'm pumped!

Saturday, May 24, 2008

Adam had a big time yesterday at Nora's house. Nora's sister Nona has a farm with goats and they took a trip to see them. Some were very tiny they said. There were also dogs and cats there and they saw cows on the way. I thought this was very exciting and then they went on to say how they had been to McDonald's Playplace. Add all that to the excitement of chasing around their cat Jenny, and I said it was just like a regular daycamp! Thanks to Nora, Doug, and Deah for showering Adam with love and excitement. God is good.

The last day of school! I got quite a big accomplished today. In fact, on Tuesday, Record's Day, I will have time to go through and do some organizing. Guess how many kids I had today? Five!

Game plan for tonight: Bypass the graduation craziness and parking at RCHS and go to the Coe's house to eat suppper and watch the graduation on the local cable channel. Smart thinking! Since Buddy and Sharon are providing the entertainment, we're providing the food--grilled chicken, Mammaw's mac and cheese (homestyle), peas and carrots, rolls, and for an easy dessert, Hershey kisses with caramel. Yummo! I can't wait.

More later! Gonna go play outside with Adam!

Friday, May 23, 2008

Today was awards and the teachers played the 6th graders in kickball. We won 4-1. It was fun! Tomorrow is the last day of school! WooHoo!

Tonight is praise team practice. Adam is going to Nora's. I'm dropping him off and then Bucky and I are going to eat at Guthrie's before practice. He is running sound this week.

Not much other news although I must say I enjoyed the Idol finale last night and I was pleased with the winner. It was a star-studded show. I liked all the performances and there were lots of them! Adam was so tired--from the time we got home really--and so he was ready for bed but I made him stay up and watch with me. Then as we were ready to go to bed, Bucky called and said he was close to coming home. We stayed up to see him.

Thursday, May 22, 2008

It's busy at school getting things ready for awards and the last day. It will be Friday before you know it.

Bucky is gone to a youth rally in Campbellsville tonight. Adam and I took the easy road and got McD's for supper. After that we took a walk up the lane. We found lots of anthills and Adam loved watching the ants. They are teeny tiny. We carried sticks and looked like we really meant business. We are back and watching old school American Gladiators. It's Ponch vs. Jesus if you can believe that. Better go cheer on Turbo and Blaze!

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Great day! Adam and I have played and played and played. We've done play-doh, made a cave, done the Magna Doodle, built with blocks, had car races, colored, danced, and read books just to name some things. We went out and about early in the day and did the bank, post office, and voting thing. He got to push the green button and get an I Voted sticker. He was very proud.

I did watch American Idol....without Bucky, but I won't mind watching it again. It was a great show. I thought Archuleta sang VERY well. He is flawless on some songs. Cook did well, too, but I thought his last song choice could have been better. We'll see how American votes. Either way I'm happy.

We worked SO hard last night. After school, Bucky and I met at Anna's garden. We bought three bushes. To the left of our house, we recently dug up all the grass between the house and the sidewalk and wanted to fill this in. We bought those and then I went to pick up Adam and Bucky went to KMart to get lava rock. The initial planting of the bushes and placing of the lava rock took no time. Then we started working on the front of the house to do some upkeep. THIS is where we took the time. To make a long story short, we went back to KMart to get more lava rock and some edging stuff and we didn't finish until right at dark. By this time, I was about to pass out from being hot and not eating. It should be noted that we used 52 bags of lava rock, but the final product is very good. While we worked, Adam played in the dirt and rocks. He was filthy. All boy!

We watched American Gladiators last night. Adam enjoys the show more than we do. It's hilarious to watch him watch it.

On another Adam note, he is now proficient with the computer mouse. He's been flirting with this for awhile. On Monday night, he totally chose his own games and videos to watch on the Thomas sight. I sat by him to help him along. The matching game is his best one and then he likes the one where you must choose where the engines go. He's really coming along.

Bucky is going with a group of guys to get fireworks and eat wings tonight. I may have to watch Idol without him. We'll see.

Sunday, May 18, 2008

Adam pottied in the big potty at daycare yesterday. Two days in a row that he's done well. Bucky had told him that if he used the potty at daycare he would get a toy. Sure enough, he told us he did. I doublechecked with Ms. Sandy and he did! So, at Wal-Mart last night we bought Duncan, another train to go with Adam's track. Also, Bucky bought a big container of tracks so Adam can have several small tracks or one big track. I don't think the picture does it justice but we have a big, make that massive, trainyard here in our living room. Adam LOVES it. He woke up at 6 this morning and couldn't wait to put everything together. It really does make his brain work....mine, too! You can switch tracks, stop trains, and all kinds of things. He can play by himself or with us. Bucky said today that Adam's 3rd party needs to be train themed. I agree!

Bucky played golf early this morning and is back out again this afternoon for a scramble for the baseball team. Adam is down for a nap. Hopefullly he'll be up to go to Mildred's birthday party. He and went to the library this morning. I'm looking forward to the summer reading program for him. I think he'll really enjoy it. I checked ouit Mary Lou Retton's Gateways to Happiness. I have always loved her! I can remember getting my hair cut like hers when I was little. Anyway, I've read the first few pages and it's good so far.

Heath has just left here. He mowed our yard and it looks really nice. We're going to grill out tonight for supper and I'm sure play outside. Dad really said Adam was doing good on t-ball during his visit. He enjoys playing it here, too. Maybe we can have a game!

Sweet sugar, I love Saturdays!

Friday, May 16, 2008

Adam is home! Life is good. He pottied in his potty last night. Woo Hoo!

3D was last night. Low number, but good times. RCHS yearbooks are in and they are nice. Every page is in color.

I have another meeting today, one I actually forgot about until I got the email reminder yesterday. It's a dreary day to have a meeting, but we're working on organizing how we'll train this summer so it shouldn't be too bad. Plus, there's always good food.

Recital (actually practice for the real thing) for the local Dance Shop is tonight in Somerset. We will go for a little bit and then I'm sure hit WalMart and a restaurant.

My throat is very sore. Hope I'm not coming down with something. Adam has some drainage. Bucky is healthy as far as I know.

Not much going on for the weekend. We will go to Mildred Wilson's 90th birthday party Saturday and Bucky is playing golf in the morning.

Better go. Happy Friday!

Thursday, May 15, 2008

Another day. Another meeting. It's so hard to sit all day when you're not used to it. I'd much rather be up and doing something. Tomorrow is back to school. The faculty is playing the 6th grade in kickball if the weather cooperates. On Friday the 3rd and 4th grade is having an outside day. I'm hoping it doesn't rain. Monday is Fun Day and then we are off for Election Day. All this being said, you can certainly tell the end of school is near.

Adam comes home tomorrow! I'm sure he will look huge when I see him. Bucky is meeting Mom and Dad in Danville. He's not seen Adam since Friday morning. Speaking of Bucky, he and the kids are putting out the last flamingo "hits." It's been a nice fundraiser and fun for the community, too.

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

It was a pretty day here. I walked this afternoon. 2 1/2 miles! I really enjoy that time.

Bucky and I caught up on two CSI episodes last night. The first one was better than the second. Tonight we'll have Idol after Buck gets home from the board meeting.

New favorite thing! Yesterday I bought two Betty Crocker Warm Delights--Molten Chocolate Cake. I thought they'd be a fun dessert. I figured you just microwaved them from what I'd seen on TV, but you actually have to do a little work. You have to mix the cake mix with water and then put the fudge stuff over the batter, then microwave it for a little over a minute. The result is heavenly. Really! They were so good! We drank cold, cold milk with it (two glasses a piece) and we practically licked the bowl clean. I will definitely buy some more.

Adam had a dirty diaper at Gran and Granddad's which is always a plus. He struggles when he travels it seems. Bucky will get him on Thursday. The time has not yet been decided. I miss the little fellow. Hope he's not rotten when he returns. :)

So Kim put her top five favorite songs of all time on her blog. I thought I'd put some of my favorite songs on the radio right now. All these I highly recommend, as does Adam as most of these are his "fave" songs, too.
"Leavin" by Jesse McCartney
"There's Nothin" by Sean Kingston
"No Air" by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown
"4 Minutes" by Madonna
"Never Wanted Nothing More" by Kenny Chesney

What would we do without music?

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

I've said it before and I'll say it again--It's quiet here! Adam is having a good time in Cynthiana according to Dad when I talked to him today. Adam had been playing the piano and other things. You never know what he'll be doing.

My meeting today was okay. Lots of stuff I knew already, but a nice refresher I guess. I went to the grocery for a few things and then came home and walked. I think it was about 2 miles. Bucky is at the golf course and I'm going to do some things here. Perhaps relax.

We thought Amanda would win Survivor, but in the end it was Parvarti.

Sunday

What a windy day! I came back to Jamestown this morning and I had to keep both hands tight on the wheel to keep from being blown away! I arrived at JCC just in time to use the bathroom, grab a bulletin, and have a seat. It was a wonderful service. Bucky did another great job and the music was AWESOME! It's just the two of us here. Adam is in Cynthiana. After church, we went over to the Mexican restaurant in Columbia. We both have rested this afternoon and I've done some things around the house. It's quiet here! We left Bucky's Jeep at the church so we'll have to go back out sometime tonight to get it. Maybe we'll grab supper while we're out. We are looking forward to the Survivor finale.

Happy Mother's Day!

Sunday, May 11, 2008

We are enjoying our time in Cynthiana. We got in yesterday afternoon a little earlier than expected after my meeting got our early. Adam is having fun with Gran and Granddad. He has been to see Duke, the dog two doors down, many times.

Today was Salem's Mother Daughter Friend Banquet. Everything went very well. The meal was nice and everyone was complimentary about my talk. I think it was well received. I'm so blessed to have these opportunities.

I don't know what's in store for tonight. Kim's going to a wedding. On that note, when Kim came Adam was so pumped. "Mama, Kim come!" He hugged and hugged her. She actually rocked him to sleeep.

Kim and I will both go back in the morning. It's fun to be together.

Mother's Day

Yesterday morning Bucky and Adam had a father son breakfast at McDonald's. Adam got an egg biscuit which Bucky separated so he could have biscuit (yes, with jelly) and then egg. He ate all of that and one of Bucky's pancakes. Then the two of them proceeded to KMart to get a present for me for Mother's Day. This is from Adam only since Bucky is to get me nothing and I get to pick out something new like shoes or clothes. Anyway, you should have heard Bucky talk about the trip. Adam wanted to get me some hilarious things--Diego napkins, black nail polish, a SpongeBob card, and a Budweiser beach towel, just to name a few. He ended up with an oh-so-cute turquoise beach bag that has me written all over it. In fact, I had stopped for some things and had spied the bag myself. Bucky said he was pleased with his purchase. I can't wait until we can go to Lakewood to use it.

It's early morning. I'm about ready to load the Trailblazer so we can split this afternoon. I am running our dishwasher and it stinks to high heaven. Now I know why I normally run it at night.

My talk at Salem Church of Christ is tomorrow. I'm ready and excited to see everyone. Adam can't wait to see Granddad and Gran. That, my friends, is the understatement of the year.

Anyone watch Survivor? Jason is the dumbest player ever! This season has been great!
It was my last day of school for the week. I have a meeting at the board tomorrow. Then I have a meeting on Monday afternoon and Wednesday all day. See what I mean when I say I go to all kinds of meetings?

Mary Blakey came over today for a bit. We gave her a Mother's Day gift. She is so very special to us. I'm so thankful for all our friends in Jamestown.

It's Date Night! Bucky won't be home until later (hopefully by 7) but I'm going to cook and we'll watch Survivor! Adam calls it "watching kids" and "animals."

Castro is gone. I didn't watch the full episode but fast forwarded through so I could know. My guess is the winner will be David Cook. He has really grown on me.

I think Adam and I are packed for Cynthiana. We'll leave hopefully by 3:30 tomorrow. Adam is itching to go. He wants to play with Granddad and he wants Gran to fix him eggs. He's been calling Granddad every afternoon to tell him he is ready to come. It's hilarious! Adam will stay in Cynthiana for a few days. I'm coming back on Sunday or Saturday night so I can hear Bucky preach. He did such a good job last week. One person told him it was his best ever. Cool!

Better go. Gotta finish up some laundry and start supper.

Thursday, May 8, 2008

Hola! It's Wednesday already. Last night was Guild. We had a wonderful guest speaker who talked to us about her work in the jails, especially with women inmates. It was very moving. The hostesses had a luau theme and so that was very fun and festive! I can home with a coconut bra and a grass skirt that I must say look hysterical on! Just call me a hula girl--like those one on car dashboards but with not much pigment!

Tonight is church. We are having a meeting to try and finish up plans for the Amazing Race before Bible study. It seems like all I ever have is meetings. All three of us have not been home together all week. :(

I am hoping that Jason Castro goes home tonight on Idol. To me, there's no question, but I've been wrong before. I would be happy if either of the Davids won.

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

Monday all over again. Today we scored portfolios. The students did very well. All UC portfolios were proficient. I am pleased. Now if the results of the On Demand are what I want them to be. We'll have to wait until September for that.

Today was a good day for eating--sausage biscuit, oatmeal squares, chocolate chip cookies, and then lunch at The Cove. I'm going to have to do something. Funny how I've been saying that and yet keep eating. Oh well.

Adam and I went to the playground after daycare and then walked up and down the lane when we got home. He's a little bundle of energy. Bucky won't be home tonight or tomorrow with things and then Wednesday is church. Adam and I will find lots to do I'm sure.

Better go play.

Sunday, May 4, 2008

Prom was great! It's fun to see all the kids in their best and it's right up my alley to watch all the dancing. The decorations were okay and they went with a fairy tale theme--castles, carriages, etc. I got to dance with Heath which was fun. Adam was still awake when we got home. He and Mary had a ball. This morning he said he would go see Mary in the morning. He must miss her.

It's a busy day today as most Sundays can be. I hope all goes well with Bucky's sermon and me teaching toddlers. Joy!

Better go take a shower and get dressed for church.

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Tonight we had Ajeen with us. She is here from Syracuse checking out JCC to maybe do an internship this summer. She is a sweetheart! Adam had a ball playing with her. She had him laughing and smiling! We had pizza made from our Jamaican mission team members and I made a salad and a cake. Not bad for a Friday night! Heath, Adam, and Cody also came over which always mean laughter and silliness. I love my life...althought I could fall asleep as I type.

Friday, May 2, 2008

Well, I don't think the kids set any records today, but it's over. On a positive note, the last day of school is now MAY 23! YES! We got the email today. No more June 4 for me!

Bucky got a call to umpire again tonight. He's doing two games--one in the field and one behind the plate. Guess we'll watch Survivor when he gets home.

Adam used the potty at daycare today. Woo Hoo!

Thursday, May 1, 2008

I'm writing this on Thursday morning, the last day of CATS testing and a big day for me since it's the On Demand portion for the 5th grade. They are prepared, but I know they are tired from lots of testing and a BIG session yesterday with both Social Studies and Arts and Humanities. Shoot up a prayer for these kids and for me, too.

Ben was here last night. He was at church and then came over and stayed until about 10 when he left to go back to Lexington. He is doing well and is hoping to do an internship this summer. If that doesn't work out, he said he'll leave Best Buy to work somewhere else. It was fun to catch up! I could talk to Ben all day! We had to keep him up to speed on all the happenings in the big city of Jamestown.

It's Thursday so that means it's' Date Night. We'll watch Survivor and I'll cook. Maybe it will be nice and we can play outside this afternoon. We still have not watched CSI from last week and so after tonight we'll have two to watch. I saw on MSN where Warrick's character was arrested for possession of drugs. Another celebrity....

On another note, I am borrowing some accessories from Denise Whittle--I went over and got a necklace and shoes yesterday. I had to change dresses after the shirt I ordered for Bucky clashed with the first one. It looked the same online. I like this one better anyway I think. Saturday is coming and Mary Blakey will keep Adam. He's excited. He'll probably push us out the door so they can play.

Better go put on my shoes and head off. Later gator.
